What about confidentiality?
The counselling service is confidential, in keeping with current legal requirements.
How many sessions are recommended?
This is up to the individual or couple as they ultimately determine how many sessions they want, but the general consensus is that six to ten sessions are deemed beneficial for change to occur. Each counselling session is an hour long and takes place by appointment only.
What theoretic approach is used?
An integrative approach is used with the individual needs of the client being paramount. However, there is an emphasis on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy), Mindfulness and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) and Solution Focused Therapy with client centred values.
How should I make contact for an appointment?

What if I do not keep an appointment?
Once you give 24 hours notice before a session that you are unable to attend you will not be charged for that session. If less than 24 hours a charge of €30 can be applied and full amount for a no show.
What if I do not like counselling?
Counselling can be uncomfortable at the start and there is no magic dust. Sometimes things can feel worse before they get better, however, if you can persevere and continue to examine and challenge your thinking, you may find that the payoff of change will enrich your life.
Maybe my issue isn't that major?
If it is causing anxiety or upset, counselling can help work towards resolution. Also counselling can help people improve self esteem, set objectives/goals and examine if their thinking is working towards these.
Where is the service based?
The practice is in Castleknock in the Dublin 15 area.
